Massage Therapy
Medical massageA medically necessary massage is used in treating injuries or musculature conditions due to trauma such as a motor vehicle accident or a postural dysfunction such as a repetitive injury. The service can be billed through a patient's health insurance plan if it is a covered benefit but may require a prescription. Although, some open access plans will allow treatment without a referral. Please contact your insurance company to check for required information. *Please note that Patient responsibility varies based on provider contracted amounts and individual health plan contracts. Often once a deductible has been met, patient's responsibility is a co-pay or a co-insurance.

A few types of Massage Offered:
Medical Massage
Medically necessary massage is performed when a patient has experienced injury or trauma. Unlike relaxation massage, unaffected areas are not treated and the affected areas are treated with specific to injury techniques like manual lymphatic drainage, active isolated stretching along with other medically prescribed modalities.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is the most common type of massage therapy. It involves using long flowing strokes to promote relaxation as well as increasing healing blood flow to muscles. It also helps to increase lymphatic flow and aids the body in removing toxins and increasing circulation.
Sports Massage
Developed to help with muscle systems used for a particular sport, sports massage uses a variety of techniques to help athletes in training- before, during, or after sporting events. Sports massage allows athletes to recover more rapidly from injury. Massage decreases muscle soreness, enabling the athlete to train more consistently.
Pregnancy Massage
During pregnancy, your body goes through major changes. Pregnancy massage can help with these changes by reducing stress, decreasing swelling, and relieving muscle and joint pain. Massage may be particularly helpful during a time when other medical options may be more limited. Using pillows, the massage therapist will get you into a comfortable position for this type of massage.
